Ethan Taylor's Game Development Portfolio
Explore a collection of unique mechanics showcased through games I have designed and produced.
This project is a mobile game I developed using UE5 to test my skills in a different area of game development. The concept is a level based runner where the player has to pick the best options in order to reach the end of the level and get the highest score possible.

This project is a chunk-based procedural map generation system designed and built using UE5. The concept was to create a procedural map using conditions and weightings dependant on specific programmable parameters such as world height, density, node size, chunk size, etc.

This project is an attempt at re-defining the mage category for games. The concept was to add an element of skill to casting spells other than simply having to aim them. To do this I made an input based combo system that would take in the players sequence of inputs and match that to a specific spell. This meant that the casting speed of a spell was defined by how the speed of the player instead of a set value by the designers.

About Me
My Vision
My Journey
I am Ethan Taylor, a passionate game designer and programmer dedicated to creating memorable gaming experiences. My focus on creativity, storytelling, and technical excellence drives me to develop games that not only entertain but inspire players worldwide.
I started my journey back in sixth-form when in order to learn programming techniques I made simple card games using C#. This both worked as a learning tool and made me want to try making more complex and in-depth games.
After this I went to Staffordshire University over in Stoke-on-Trent. Here I deepened my understanding of coding and began to learn different game engines such as Unity and Unreal Engine. While I now have experience in Unity, the latter stuck with me more and after some time became my engine of choice when developing games.
